The RWA runs a number of contests each year. I have dabbled before but this year I decided it would be a great opportunity to get some feedback on the two books I’ve been writing. (yes I have actually been writing just a teensy bit).
I am over the moon to be able to announce that Second Hand Heart finaled in the first round of the Emerald Pro and Aussie Adventure came 1st in the Ripping Start contest. I also decided to throw caution to the wind and at the last minute, I wrote a very sexy short story to enter into the Spicy Bites competition. Now anyone who knows me or my stories will understand how far out of my comfort zone this was. I really just wanted the opportunity to stretch myself as a writer and to have a go. Well, I’m glad I did as Chained to Her Boss came 2nd and will be part of the Spicy Bites, Chained Anthology this year. It will be launched during the RWA conference in Sydney in August. Even more exciting is the fact I’ll get to be there.
I’d like to thank all the judges and the contest co-ordinators for all their hard work, reading, scoring, judging and organising. It’s a tough and time-consuming job and you’ve all done brilliantly.
