What better way to settle back and watch the royal wedding than with some very English Scones and a pot of tea. And because it’s a wedding, they have to be heart shaped of course. If I had thought of it I might have put some pink food colouring in there too, because EVERYTHING is better pink.
I’ve chosen this recipe because all we really want is to don our tiaras, put our feet up and watch the wedding. Unfortunately, we want to be snacking on scones while we do this so we need to put in a tiny bit of effort first. And these are the worlds most simple and delicious scones.
3 Cups of SR Flour
1 Cup of thickened cream
1 Cup of cold lemonade
Milk to brush
Jam and cream
Pre-heat oven to 180c
Throw all ingredients in a bowl and mix gently (told you it was easy!)
Tip out onto a floured surface and give it a quick, light knead.
Roll out (or press if you don’t have a rolling pin, although I have no idea how you keep your husband in line) until mixture is approx 1.5cm thick all over.
Cut out heart shapes with a cookie cutter. Dip in flour between every few cuts so the mixture doesn’t stick.
Brush with milk
Bake in oven for 12-15mins or until golden brown.
Eat with jam and cream or butter and don’t forget to put the kettle on. Because what’s a scone without a cuppa?
